ILLUMINATING PICCADILLY CIRCUS
LED LIGHTING FOR ICONIC LANDMARK
For this landmark installation at Piccadilly Circus, Addlux was selected to develop a bespoke high-brightness LED light sheet solution for the illuminated arches positioned beneath the world-famous digital advertising screens.
The project was delivered in collaboration with Formadesign UK Ltd, acting as principal contractor for Lindt’s flagship retail environment.
The installation required a powerful yet discreet lighting solution capable of enhancing architectural features in one of London’s most visually intense public spaces.
The illuminated arches needed to compete visually with the surrounding digital screens while maintaining architectural elegance and integration within a restricted structural depth.
Addlux was selected following detailed technical evaluation against alternative high-output lighting systems.
The lighting solution needed to meet several demanding requirements:
- Extremely high brightness output for visibility in a saturated light environment
- Flexible construction to follow curved architectural arch forms
- Ultra-thin profile for discreet integration within limited depth
- Even, shadow-free illumination across large surfaces
- Energy-efficient performance despite high luminance demands
Standard LED systems were unable to deliver the required combination of intensity, flexibility, and uniformity.

Addlux supplied a bespoke version of our CREOLUX flexible LED light sheet system, engineered specifically for high-output architectural applications.
Key technical enhancements included:
- Ultra-high brightness output exceeding 100,000 lumens per m²
- Flexible LED light sheet construction for curved architectural integration
- Ultra-thin profile (3mm class system design) for seamless installation
- Uniform illumination technology for consistent visual output
- Custom-built modular assemblies for efficient on-site installation
This solution enabled full architectural illumination of the arches while maintaining visual consistency and structural elegance.
